With the slow development with regards to connecting new houses onto the utility grid, this client was left with no option than to seek a reliable source of energy that was guaranteed to last for years to come. The neighborhood developers had been silent on their promise of facilitating the connection and this made the client lose any hope he had on that being done in the near future. The client wanted to move in to his newly completed house urgently but did not want to make the lifestyle adjustment of living in a house without electricity when his family had been accustomed to having electricity almost on a daily basis. The client was comfortable transitioning from using an electric cooker to using a gas cooker but having to worry about lack of power to power his borehole pump and the lack of power for his entertainment system and other household appliances was something he felt he and his family could not handle.
Solution/results after installation
The client came to us requesting that we equip his home with a 10KVA system as he felt that it was the one that met his power supply needs. This home is now equipped with 2 x Growatt 5KVA Hybrid Inverters, a 7.9kW solar array (12 panels per inverter), with 14.4kW lithium battery storage capacity. The newly installed system is still not connected to the utility grid but so far, they have not needed any utility power to supplement the solar power as the system is performing as expected. They like the freedom to still get access to the utility regardless of the fact that occasionally there may be an extended number of days without the sun. The family is experiencing energy independence with sustainable options and have not experienced any power interruptions after this investment. During the day, all of this family’s power demands are met by the solar panel production. In the evenings, the system automatically switches over to battery power based on the programmed settings of their inverters.
